Brainstorming Session With Fresh KGP Graduates

One of the duties of any Alumni Association is to repay the Alma Mater. We at IIT KGP-AASC have promised to do the same (Fortunately for us, several active members are fresh KGP grads). On Dec 16th, the KGP Liaison Task force invited recent KGP graduates to a "Listening Session". The purpose was to find out what needs to be done to reposition KGP as the best of the IIT's.

The task force led by Jayashree Saha, assisted by Alok Chatterjee, Nathaniel Behura, Ashish Law and Rakesh Batra challenged Ranjita Bhagwan, Kanishka Lahiri, Prabhakar Pundir, Dibyajyoti Banerjee and Shaik to spell out all major changes and improvements in KGP that would be necessary to make our Alma Mater the best.

After a lively discussion, lasting four hours, where our young grads spoke freely and often heatedly, several suggestions were finalized and later prioritized.

Jayashree and Alok are expected to meet Dr. Bhaskaran and Dr. Faruqui in Jan 2001 and discuss these suggestions and ascertain as to how IIT KGP-AASC can assist them. Later, a consolidated list of proposals with funding requirements will be presented to IIT KGP-AASC Executive Board force. The intention is to launch at least two initiatives for 2001, and two long term initiatives for the future.
